About the Course:
This course is for Deaf people who want to learn more about Irish Sign Language (ISL) and how it works. It will teach you the basics of ISL linguistics, helping you understand how ISL compares to other languages.
What You Will Learn:

- Compare ISL with Spoken Languages:
- Learn how ISL is similar to and different from spoken languages.
- Explore Regional and Gender Variations in ISL:
- Find out how ISL is used differently in different areas and by different genders.
- Compare ISL with Non-Sign Gestures:
- Look at how ISL is different from other kinds of gestures and body language.
Prerequisites:
You do not need to know anything about linguistics before taking this course. However, you should already know ISL well and be able to use ISL idioms. A laptop is required for this course.
Progression:
After completing this course, you will understand the basics of ISL and how it works. This will help you move on to ISL Linguistics Level 2.
