About the Course 

This course is for people who already know the basics of ISL. It will help you learn more about the language and how Irish Sign Language (ISL) works. You will study different parts of ISL and how it compares with other languages. 

 

What You Will Learn 

In this 10-week course, you will learn: 

  • Advanced Linguistics Comparisons: 
  • Compare ISL with spoken languages. 
  • Look at how ISL has its own special rules and structures. 
  • Social and Cultural Influences on ISL: 
  • Learn how social and cultural factors affect ISL. 
  • Understand how different areas and cultures use ISL in their own way. 
  • Multimodal Communication: 
  • Compare ISL with other ways of communicating. 
  • Learn how facial expressions and body language play a big role in ISL. 

 

Prerequisites 

You need to have completed ISL Linguistics Level 1 or have a good understanding of the basics of ISL. You should be able to use common ISL expressions and idioms. You must have a laptop for this course. 

 

Progression 

When you finish this course, you will understand more advanced parts of ISL. You will be ready to take other ISL Linguistics courses or explore more topics related to ISL.
