National ISL Day
National Irish Sign Language (ISL) Day is celebrated every year on December 14th to honor the passing of the Irish Sign Language Act 2017, which officially recognised ISL as one of Ireland’s official languages.
This day celebrates the Deaf community’s language, culture, and identity, while raising awareness about the importance of ISL for equal rights and access. The Irish Deaf Society leads the celebrations each year and encourages everyone to join in.
