As part of International Week of Deaf People 2024, the Irish Deaf Society’s Further Education and Training Department hosts a roundtable discussion featuring FET staff members Brian Crean, Joanne Chester, and Alvean Jones, alongside special guest Julianne Duffy Gillen, Learning Support Officer at TU Dublin and experienced advocate for Disability and Deafness.
This engaging discussion delves into the meaning of inclusive education, "ISLing" about both the challenges and opportunities involved for Deaf people. The panel explores what true, meaningful inclusivity looks like in practice, particularly for Deaf learners, and examines the role of national sign language in making inclusive education a reality.
