Diversity in Deaf Communities

On Friday, September 27, 2024, the spotlight was on "Diversity in Deaf Communities." This focused on acknowledging and appreciating the different backgrounds and identities within the deaf community. It emphasised treating each deaf individual with respect, regardless of their unique characteristics or experiences.

In this video, we interviewed five Deaf individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds who have moved to Ireland. They share their personal stories of embracing the Deaf community and learning Irish Sign Language. Through their experiences, they highlight the rich cultural diversity within the Irish Deaf community and the importance of ISL in building connections and fostering inclusion. Join us as we explore their unique journeys and the meaningful impact of Irish Sign Language in their lives
