Role Description
Overview of the Job
The Irish Deaf Society (IDS) are hiring range of Further Education and Training (FET) tutors to assist the delivery of our new term courses in September 2022.
The key role of the tutor in adult education is to provide good quality education in a learner centered environment. The main task for tutors is to deliver tailored training material for use on subject areas as listed above. The tutor position involves producing and creating educational material in accordance with the timescale of the courses with the guidance of the Course Manager.
The tutor is responsible in maintaining up to date materials and ensure learner’s needs are met via online learning environment. The successful candidate will be expected to attend our Teaching Staff forum, our community practice space to provide feedback and suggestions.
We are looking for someone who has a proactive approach to their work, who is communicative, flexible and committed, with the ability to work alone as well as part of a team.
The successful candidate will work in the Deaf community with an appreciation and respect for Deaf culture and Irish Sign Language.
Experience and Qualifications required(desirable)
- Fluent in Irish Sign Language(Required**)
- Current Subject Area experience, skills or knowledge with at least 2 years’ experience.
- Knowledge and experience of conducting and / or writing within a subject area as a tutor or within an educational environment.
- Confident use of IT and Video Conferencing e.g. Teams and Zoom
- Ability to follow briefs and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing guidelines and attend training as required.
