Location: Blended work from both IDS premises and remotely as required.

    Overview of the Job

    The Irish Deaf Society (IDS) are hiring a range of Further Education and Training (FET) Teachers/Tutors to join our team to assist the delivery of our courses for this September Autumn courses.

    The key role of the Teacher / Tutor in adult education is to provide good quality education in a learner centred environment and apply best practice and contribution to the ethos and quality assurance systems of IDS FET.

    They would also be responsible in designing, delivering, assessing coursework to QQI standards. To support and maintain a positive working relationship with learners and staff.

    The successful candidate will be expected to attend our Teaching Staff forum, our community practice space to provide feedback and suggestions.

    We are looking for someone who has a proactive approach to their work, who is communicative, flexible and committed, with the ability to work alone as well as part of a team.

    The successful candidate will work in the Deaf community with an appreciation and respect for Deaf culture and Irish Sign Language.

    Experience and Qualifications Required (desirable)

  • Fluent in Irish Sign Language (required)
  • Experience teaching or training adults and understanding needs of the adult learner
  • Excellent communication, organisational and team-working skills
  • Relevant qualification and experience in the subject area
  • Awareness and knowledge of QQI Awards and curricula
  • Strong IT skills
